Paying Attention To The Printed Page

To Stick Or Not To Stick: That Is The Label Question

Labels are something everyone needs in order to organize all of their stuff. Labels in an office, labels on your personal desk, and even labels for everything in your closets at home is an excellent way to keep track of where everything is. However, making labels and affixing labels are very different tasks for everyone. Here are some of the ways in which you can make and attach labels.

Label Printing at a Printing Service

This is probably the best way to go about making labels. You do not pay for any printing mistakes, and every label comes out exactly how you want it. You also can order and pay for labels in bulk and ask for limited wording if you do not want very specific wording on the labels. The printing store employees can quote you what it will cost based on the number of printed copy lines, the size of the labels, and the number of labels you want.

Printing Labels at Home

When you print labels at home, it can be anything from cut slips of paper that you write on yourself to printed labels off your own printer that are just paper with no adhesive, as well as printed labels with adhesive backing included. However, any labels that have adhesive on the back already have to be printed correctly. Otherwise, you will lose all of those labels if you misprint them by inserting the label sheets in the printer in the wrong direction.

Choosing How to Apply the Labels

If you print labels (however you choose to print them or have them printed), then you can choose whether or not there is adhesive already on the backs of the labels. More often than not, the labels you print with glue backing are the sticker kind, and this is how most printing services print labels for you. If you decide to print glue-less labels (i.e. no sticker backing), then you can choose to attach your labels with tape, clear contact paper, packing tape, wet or super glue, staples, or clip the labels to things using paperclips. The easiest way, of course, is with the sticker labels, which allow you to peel and stick as you choose. If you want labels where no labels are duplicated on any sheet, then you might want to consider using blank sticker labels and hand-printing what you want on these labels.
